The Iowa 1:1 Institute exists to:
  • Help the Midwest’s 1:1 districts learn from each other about innovative teaching, learning, and administrative practices that are occurring in their districts;
  • Build excitement and ‘buzz’ around 1:1 laptop computing initiatives in the Midwest; and
  • Help others who are interested in 1:1 computing learn more about how to get started and be successful.
The institute is open to anyone interested in 1:1 laptop computing initiatives in P-12 schools, whether they currently are working in such a program or just want to learn more.

Ms. Hayes has taught high school/middle school English, specializing in technology integrated projects, for 24 years. She earned her MA in Instructional Technology from the University of Northern Iowa, and while there presented on instructional design at the International Flat Classroom Conference held in Beijing, China. She has served as the technology integrationist for South Hamilton Community Schools since 2013, focusing on K-6 integration. With a passion for integrating technology, she has presented at the Iowa Council of Teachers of English, ITEC, the TICL Conference, and Iowa 1:1. She works to find strong uses of technology that truly push student learning to a higher level.
