The Iowa 1:1 Institute exists to:
  • Help the Midwest’s 1:1 districts learn from each other about innovative teaching, learning, and administrative practices that are occurring in their districts;
  • Build excitement and ‘buzz’ around 1:1 laptop computing initiatives in the Midwest; and
  • Help others who are interested in 1:1 computing learn more about how to get started and be successful.
The institute is open to anyone interested in 1:1 laptop computing initiatives in P-12 schools, whether they currently are working in such a program or just want to learn more.

Amy Wichman is presently the Director of Innovation & Instruction for the Central Community School District in Eastern Iowa, where she works as an instructional leader & learner and technology innovator. She also is a certified Intel Senior Trainer. Prior to her current position, Mrs. Wichman was the Iowa Core Lead at the Mississippi Bend AEA for three years, and the Director of At-Risk Services for the Bettendorf Community School District for eight years. Over the past sixteen years, she has taught at schools and universities including Urbandale Middle School , Ventura High School, St. Ambrose University, and Drake University. Currently, Mrs. Wichman is on the Iowa ASCD Board of Directors, serving as the Membership Chair. Mrs. Wichman holds a Bachelor of Arts from Buena Vista University and Masters of Science in Education Administration (Secondary) from Drake University. Her passion is technology implementation and motivating educators. Her pride, joy and greatest consumers of time are her children, EmmaKate (17), Evallyn (10), and Everhett (7). She lives in Bettendorf, Iowa with her husband, Jim, who is a middle school principal.
